We stayed at the KOA in San Antonio. When we think of our trip to San Antonio, we think hot and humid! The United States has been experiencing a massive heat wave, and that was the start of it. Temperatures were in the 90s with 90% humidity. These desert rats were drenched in sweat!

We went to the Alamo. It was a fascinating place. After visiting the Alamo, we went and did several Spanish missions throughout the area. It was interesting to learn about the farming, the colonization, and that many of these missions are still functioning churches. I didn’t know that the mariachi, stemmed from the Spanish missions that were established. We learned quite a bit about Texas history, the Mexican American war and the Spanish conquest.
We also did the river walk which was really refreshing because of the cooling by the river and the misters installed along the river.
Daniel’s favorite part was seeing the missions.
Janell’s favor part was the air conditioning in the camper and Buccee’s Beaver Nuggets.
Lillian’s favorite part was the Alamo.
Ephraim’s favorite part was also the Alamo.
What were wish we would have known:
What humidity was really like!
Dallas, TX SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM
We left Texas and dropped the trailer at an RV park just outside of Dallas and drove the truck in the Dallas. We met with Grace and went to the sixth floor museum. This is where the kids learned about JFK and his assassination. The museum overlooks Deadly Plaza and is on the floor where Lee Harvey Oswald set up his equipment and staged his sniper spot.

The museum was really interesting. It went through JFK’s life, the politics of his day, and the events proceeding the assassination. It took us about two hours to go through the museum.

Daniel‘s favorite part of this was seeing the actual place and learning the details of JFK and the political climate and events leading up to his assassination.
Janell‘s favorite part of this was seeing and spending time with Grace.
Lillian‘s favorite part of this favorite part of this was the museum.
Ephraim’s favorite part of this was the that the FBI immediately identified the assassin.
