Maine

We camped at Seawall campground on the quiet side of Acadia National Park and the last two days at Blackwoods campground on the desert side. We saw so many things in Acadia. We drove the loop. We saw Thunder Hole, Sandy beach, Seal harbor, hiked to Bubble Rock, walked the garden, saw the views from Cadillac mountain, stopped at multiple lookouts, attended a farmers market, ate lobster at Beals Lobster shack, window shopped in Bar Harbor, kayaked along the porcupine islands, and attended church Ellsworth (the friendliest ward I’ve ever been to!)

We spent several days at the beach. Ephraim and Lillian boogie boarded. The sand was so coarse. It stick to our skin. We didn’t have showers, and we would try to brush off the sand. It was almost impossible to get off. I didn’t feel free of sand until showering at our campground in York, ME.

We stayed for four nights in Acadia and then we left for York Maine. We stayed at one of our favorite campgrounds during the trip. The showers felt so good since we hadn’t showered for several days. This was our beach portion of the trip. It was along the route of several trip beaches that are in Maine. We spent time on Short Sand Beach and Long S and bBeach. Long Sand Beach had amazing waves! The kids had a great time boogie boarding. The water was freezing!

We did a hike where we could see all the way to Boston, the Appalachian Mountains, and also the ocean. We also were able to see some lighthouses.

Seeing how people spent so much time on the beach, and witnessing the little beach chair with the umbrella, made me understand some of the illustrations I’ve seen of Maine and the beaches. Maine has more beach coastline than California does.

Daniel’s favorite party of this was sea kayaking and the view from Cadillac Mountain. The feel of Maine, Daniel fell in love with. He described it as an actively beautiful place with beautiful energy.

Janell’s favorite part was the natural beauty of Maine. The people were so kind as well.

Lillian’s favorite part of Maine was the EVERYTHING! Lillian found the people friendly compared to the rest of the East coast. She said people would say hello and you were afraid they’d kill you in the night-direct quote. She thought it was beautiful as well.

Ephraim’s favorite part of it was . . . Wait for it. . . You guessed . . . DA BEEACH!
